10 Truly Unusual Human Deaths

As mortal beings, death holds a particular fascination for us. It is the ultimate price to pay for one or two seemingly inconsequential decisions you’ve made during the course of your life, and could happen to anyone at any time. Heart attack while brushing your teeth? Sure. Brain aneurysm while perusing the filthiest reaches of the internet? Could happen. But those aren’t really the most interesting ways to leave this world. If you’re not able to get famous from dying, you’re doing it wrong; unlike some of the people coming up.

Jerome Moody

In 1985, the New Orleans Recreation Department held a pool party to celebrate their first summer season of swimming without any drownings. This alone should be alarming to anyone, considering that holding a party simply because no one died on your property this year seems a little unnerving. Regardless, about 100 off-duty lifeguards were present, as well as four active ones—making it one of the safest possible pool parties in existence. Unless, of course, you’re Jerome Moody.
Moody defied the odds and managed—despite the massive number of trained lifeguards in the vicinity—to surreptitiously sink to the bottom of the pool and drown. Disturbingly, the man was not discovered until the end of the party, raising questions about how long his lifeless body was resting just below the feet of the other partygoers.

Vladimir Likhonos
Url-1-8
Vladimir Likhonos, a twenty-five year old chemistry student at the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute in Ukraine, had a fondness for dipping his chewing gum in powdered citric acid in order to give it a sour taste. This harmless practice was the catalyst for his death however, as he confused a highly explosive compound for his usual flavor enhancer.
This simple error resulted in a small explosion as soon as the Likhonos’ saliva mixed with the unstable powder. Small, however, is a relative term as the blast was powerful enough to completely remove his jaw, and to cause disfiguring injuries to his face. Unfortunately—despite arriving quickly—the man was unable to be saved by police and paramedics.

Jose Ochoa
Url-2-4
Cockfighting is an undeniably brutal sport—specially bred roosters are equipped with blades and pitted against one another gladiator-style until one of the birds becomes incapacitated or dies. The risk for bodily harm typically extends only to the avian competitors. But this was not the case for Jose Luis Ochoa on January 30th, 2011, when he received a cock-inflicted wound to his right calf while attending a cockfighting event in California. For his participation in a cruel and illegal event, Jose paid the ultimate price just two hours after being wounded. Meanwhile, the rooster’s current whereabouts are unreported, but we can surely expect him to be a solid competitor in the next Mortal Kombat Tournament.

Kenji Urada

Paranoia abounds when it comes to imagining a future filled with sentient robots. Will they begin producing and maintaining themselves, eliminating the need for human interference? Will they become disgruntled with their slave-hood and decide to dominate us instead? Will our downfall eventually come at the cold, steel hands of the very things we created in order to better our lives?
Well, whatever the answer to those questions may be, for Kenji Urada it was the non-thinking type of robot that posed the biggest threat. While working at a Kawasaki plant in 1981, he was tasked with fixing a malfunctioning robot, which he unfortunately failed to fully deactivate. As he began to make the necessary repairs, the robot suddenly jolted to life, overpowering Urada with its mechanical strength and pushing the helpless man into a grinding machine. This horrid death wasn’t completely fruitless, though—Kenji earned the distinction of being just the second man ever to be killed by a robot.

Gina Lalapola
Url-4-3
In movies involving a marriage, it’s pretty common to include a scene in which the soon-to-be groom’s friends throw him a stag party before he ties the knot, complete with strippers and a massive cake. And, in some circumstances, those last two things are intrinsically linked, such as in the case of Gina Lalapola, a twenty-three year old stripper from Italy.
For the bachelor party, the groom-to-be’s friends ordered a special surprise: a cake with a stripper inside. As cliché as that is, things took a decidedly bad turn when the stripper failed to emerge from the cake on cue. Naturally, the men assumed she had gotten out of the baked dessert at some point and so went ahead with opening it in order to check. It was their turn to be surprised, however, when they discovered the lifeless body of their hired dancer still nestled patiently inside the cake. Apparently, she had suffocated after waiting over an hour in the sealed wooden confection.

John Kendrick
John-Kendrick-Lady-Washington
John Kendrick was an American sea captain and trader during the American Revolutionary War of 1775–1783. After this period, in 1794, Kendrick was captain upon the Lady Washington when he found himself just off the coast of Honolulu. It was at this time that the natives were engaged in an inter-island war with another faction and made a deal with a nearby British vessel for assistance in exchange for 400 pigs.
The crew of the British ship, however, were of little help to the Hawaiians as they were preoccupied with counting their newfound pig-fortune. Realizing that the British were busying themselves with another task, the king of the tribe paddled out to ask Kendrick for help. Kendrick accepted and lent a hand in tracking down and killing the opposing king, whereupon he fired a thirteen-gun salute in celebration of the victory.
Upon seeing this, the British Jackal returned the gesture, but failed to realize that one of the cannons was loaded with live grapeshot. Well, either that or the Jackal doesn’t play nicely with other trade ships. The outcome of this blunder took its toll on the Washington, whose very captain, Kendrick, was among those counted dead, making for a very accurate mistake.

The Byford Dolphin
Decompression Chamber
Life on the Byford Dolphin (a semi-submersible drilling rig) isn’t easy. The work is hard and the days are long, a factor which is believed to have played a key role in the rather explosive deaths of five men on November 5th, 1983. During a routine dive preparation, six workers were inside of a compression chamber attached to a diving bell on the rig. If procedures had been correctly followed, it is likely that no incident would have occurred on this day.
Sadly, however, a critical misjudgment in timing led to the explosive decompression of the chamber from nine atmospheres of pressure to just one. This rapid decompression killed all but one of the divers, but one in particular gets the most interest for the manner in which this event affected him: he exploded. The gases in his body instantly expanded, causing the ejection of all of his thoracic and abdominal organs, including even his thoracic spine, and the shedding of all of his limbs. Nearly simultaneously, his remains were sucked through the opening of the door which was only 24 inches (60.96 cm) in diameter. It sounds like a hellish way to go out, but the consolation here is that it was too fast to be anything but painless.
3
Tom Pryce
Url-5-3
A British racing driver from Wales, Tom Pryce enjoyed an impressive career from 1969 until 1977, when his passion ultimately resulted in his death. It was during the 1977 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami that Renzo Zorzi, Pryce’s teammate, began experiencing trouble with his fuel metering unit, which caused fuel to pump directly onto his engine, igniting it. Zorzi quickly pulled his Formula One car over to the left side of the main straightaway, out of the path of the incoming racers. Though his engine was burning, Zorzi had difficulty disconnecting the oxygen pipe from his helmet, and was unable to exit his car, prompting intervention from two track marshals on the opposite side of the track.
The marshals, Bill and Jansen Van Vuuren each proceeded to cross the track carrying forty pound fire extinguishers, unaware that four cars were coming out of the final turn and onto the main straight. The marshals were fortunate enough to have the lead car swerve to avoid them, but Van Vuuren’s luck ran out when the car directly behind the first, Pryce’s car, was left unable to dodge him in time. The result is that the 1,500 pound vehicle, traveling at 170 mph (270 kmh) instantly tore Vuuren in half and sent his fire extinguisher catapulting into Pryce’s head, which sharply jerked his helmet upward and almost completely decapitated him with the strap.

Lake Nyos
27492-Lake-Nyos--Cameroon--Gas-Release-August-21--1986--Dead-Cattle-An
Lake Nyos is a crater lake in Cameroon and the host to a pocket of magma that is constantly seeping carbon dioxide into it, resulting in the water changing into carbonic acid. That, however, is not the worst the lake is capable of. On August 21st, 1986, farmers living in the vicinity of the lake heard a strange rumbling sound accompanied by a frothy spray that shot hundreds of feet from the lake’s surface. Afterward, a cloud began to amass on top of the water, quickly growing to about 328 feet (100 meters) in height. In trying to investigate the noise, people who came into contact with the cloud fell readily unconscious, leaving them unable to warn others about the impending disaster.
The heavier-than-air cloud soon settled into a valley, which served to channel it to other settlements. The people in these areas now began to fall unconscious where they were standing. After just a few breaths, many succumbed to the suffocating nature of the fog before it was carried away by the wind, up to 15.5 miles (25 km) from the initially hit villages. When all was said and done, 1,700 people and 3,500 heads of livestock were killed by the noxious cloud, earning it Guinness’ title for World’s Deadliest Lake in 2008.
Oh, and as for the cause of the disaster? A simple rockslide from within the lake is thought to have triggered a massive release of carbon dioxide. It is expected to happen again, too, but through degassing, scientists hope to control the potential damage.

Michael Malloy
Screen Shot 2013-01-29 At 2.42.39 Pm
Michael Malloy was a homeless alcoholic who lived in New York City during the 1920s–1930s. He had no known family and nothing would be thought of his sudden demise, leading five men to come up with a cunning plan. The men, dubbed The Murder Trust conspired to take out a life insurance policy on Malloy. They then planned to kill him in order to collect the money. Their method of murder was inspired by Malloy’s alcoholism: let him drink himself to death.
One of the involved men owned a speakeasy, so he gave Michael unlimited credit to drink to his heart’s desire, hoping he would quickly die of his indulgences. But Malloy continued to pound drinks back for the entire working day, every day. Noticing that Malloy hadn’t yet succumbed to his own alcoholism, the Trust began to add secret ingredients to his beverages. First, they added antifreeze, which Malloy didn’t even notice. Next they tried turpentine, horse liniment, and rat poison, all of which failed to affect Malloy.
Deciding on another final solution for their pesky problem, they fed Michael oysters soaked in methanol. Then came sandwiches full of spoiled sardines and rat poison, with just a hint of carpet tacks. After that failed miserably, the Trust threw creativity out the window and simply waited for Malloy to pass out, then dragged his unconscious body into the -14 °F (-26 °C) night and tossed him in a snow bank. They then dumped 5 gallons (19 liters) of snow on his bare chest and left him to die.
Certain that Malloy was dead, the Trust were astonished when he strolled in the next morning, looking no worse for wear. At this point the Trust was running out of patience and ideas, so one member bit the bullet and ran Malloy over with his taxi, which was traveling at about 45 mph (72 kmh). This put him in the hospital with broken bones for three weeks, during which time the Trust attempted to collect the insurance money on him, but failed.
Michael eventually reappeared in the bar for his routine drink, so the Trust initiated their last ditch effort: they allowed him to pass out again, dragged him to the room of one of the Trust members, then inserted a hose in his mouth that was connected to a gas jet, killing Michael within minutes. For their trouble, they earned about $61,000 by today’s standards and a trip to the electric chair for all but one of the gang after they were unable to keep quiet and started talking about “Mike the Durable” around other

First successful kidney transplant in Nigeria recorded in Abuja

Gabriel Onogwu, 20, from Benue, has become a symbol of hope for patients with failing kidneys across the country, after successfully undergoing a transplant.
His surgery in December is the first recorded in Abuja, done by a team of surgeons at View Point Hospital, a private clinic in the suburb of Gwarimpa.
Gabriel’s transplant was funded by Nafs Kidney Foundation, a philanthropic group run by Suleiman Sulu-Gambari.
For days after the surgery, he walked around with a mask across his nose to ward off germs that could compromise his immune system and force his body to reject the kidney donated by his elder brother.
Weeks later, the SS3 student of GSS, Karu is out of hospital and attempting to return to what his life was before his surgery.
“I feel great, normal, just the way I used to feel before my kidney failed” he says. This time, his mask is off as he speaks to Daily Trust. But the reporter who met him had a nose mask on. “I am very, very happy to have my life back.”
Millions of Nigerians are not so lucky. Many are as young as 18 years, and are coming down with chronic kidney disease (CKD) — the gradual loss of kidney functions. Leading figures from the National Association of Nephrology indicate up to 32 million kidneys in Nigeria are failing.
When a kidney is compromised, the body loses it greatest natural filter–and with that the ability to remove toxins from the body. Prompt treatment is dialysis–a procedure that imitates the function of the kidney to remove toxins and waste from the blood. It is effective, but it also expensive.
“They deserted us”
Experts worry that the age of Nigerians facing failing kidneys is falling. Gabriel’s age at 20 makes him a poster child for the poster. His situation worsened in 2011 when “he started complaining of sever headache,” recalls his mother Comfort Onogwu.
“He was healthier and fatter than we knew him. We could not look at him like that. We took him to hospital, did twenty something tests before they realized it was kidney failure.”
It took nearly a year, but Gabriel was finally placed on dialysis in June 2012. Each dialysis session cost N20,000 and required up to three pints of blood (blood is the medium used in dialysis). Gabriel estimates the weekly cost of his kidney management at around N150,000–money his family couldn’t afford.
“It affected my family more, because getting that amount of money every week was not easy. We couldn’t continue with [three dialyses] weekly, so we had to reduce to twice weekly.” Experts recommend three dialyses a week as optimum, but Gabriel’s sessions dropped to just once a week eventually.
“Our relations couldn’t help again. They deserted us. Help was coming from people we had never met, neighbours–helping with lots of test.”
Gabriel started treatment at Asokoro General Hospital, then was moved to National Hospital. A transplant was the only option left when he came onto Nafs’ radar at View Point “in a very, very pathetic situation and in severe pains,” says Nafs founder Sulu-Gambari.
“When they were told the options of treatment and the financial implications, which obviously the family was nowhere capable of financing; I asked the management how we could assist.”
The option was a transplant, and the choice was between the US at N16 million and India at N8.5 million. View Point, which has been doing minimal-invasion surgeries since it started, agreed it could do the transplant for N5 million but it didn’t have every equipment needed.
“The foundation took it upon itself to acquire some equipment from London to enable them perform the surgery,” says Sulu-Gambari. The acquisition was outside the N5m agreed upon, but the extra spending is being considered down payment for future surgeries for indigent patients.
Nafs has opened an account at the hospital through which anyone can directly fund future transplants. A second kidney transplant for a 50-year-old patient is scheduled for some time in March.
“The whole idea is not to assist only one person. We want it to be a continuous thing whereby other indigents that cannot afford it, the foundation will be able to step in to help. For us to have good result and sustainability, we have to be able to part with money.”
Nearly 16 surgeons hovered over Gabriel in the theatre, headed by Dr Nadey Hakim, director of kidney and pancreatic transplant, Imperial College, University of London, with some 2,000 successful transplants under his belt.
The foundation has defended using a top brain in kidney transplant as a means of teaching local doctors to carry out future transplants on their own. It also plans to invite surgeons from as far as Maiduguri, Kano and Abuja to sit in on the next transplant.
Giving hope
The emphasis on chronic kidney disease is for a reason, says Sulu-Gambari.
CKD is not only a painful but expensive condition for patients and their families. “The cost of haemodialysis in government hospital is about N2 million in one year; in private hospitals, it is N4 million.”
“If you have a successful kidney transplant, the patient becomes 100 percent, cured, he goes back to his normal life. That is the joy in it, as against diseases such as cancer whereby you spend so much money and the outcome is not pleasant.
“This one, if the transplant is done successfully then you are 100 percent sure the patient will enjoy a happy life and that happiness gives me great pleasure.”
It has also immense publicity “and a lot of interest in the hospital,” says View Point chief medical director, Dr Hauwa’u Bello-Gambari. “More people are coming in, trying to find out what else we can do, and patients with kidney problems have been coming too.”
But Bello-Gambari says View Point “wouldn’t be limited by kidney problems alone.”
There have been few recorded successful transplants in other major hospitals, but that it is also possible in smaller, lesser known hospitals is a lesson for larger teaching hospitals–a lesson the foundation wants noted. It is also one score in favour of Nigeria in the rush to stem trips abroad for medical procedures.
Comfort Onogwu insists her family could never afford medical bills for any treatment abroad, and a transplant back in Nigeria still isn’t cheap either.
“I never dreamt I could one day go for this transplant,” says Gabriel. “My family cannot even raise half a million naira.” But he’s back home with a new kidney to show for it.

200 Clubbers Injured, 180 Killed As Fire Guts Night Club In Southern Brazil

UPDATE: BBC IS REPORTING THAT AT LEAST 245 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED DEATH!

A fire swept through a crowded nightclub in southern Brazil early Sunday [Jan. 27], killing at least 180 people and leaving hundreds injured, police and firefighters said.

Sandro Meinerz, a spokesman for the police in the city of Santa Maria, told local media that the fire broke out at the Kiss club while a band was performing. He said at least 200 people were injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, officials said. The total number of victims is still unclear and there may be hundreds injured, Civil Police and regional government spokesman Marcelo Arigoni told Radio Gaucha.

Arigoni told the radio station a truck carrying 70 bodies had arrived at the Municipal Sports Center, which was being used as an improvised morgue.

Diario de Santa Maria reported that the fire started at around 2 a.m.

Rodrigo Moura, whom the paper identified as a security guard at the club, said it was at its maximum capacity of between 1,000 and 2,000, and partygoers were pushing and shoving to escape.

Ezekiel Corte Real, 23, was quoted by the paper as saying that he helped people to escape. "I just got out because I'm very strong”, he said.

"Sad Sunday", tweeted Tarso Genro, the governor of the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. He said all possible action was being taken and that he would be in the city later in the day.

Santa Maria, at the southern tip of Brazil near the borders with Argentina and Uruguay, is a major university city with a population of around a quarter of a million.

10 Reasons To Throw-out Your Microwave Oven

From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:

1). Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].

2). The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

3). Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.

4). The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.

5). Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

6). The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

7). Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.

cool. The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

9). Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.

10). Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.

Boko-Haram Rules Out Dialogue With FG - SaharaReporters

By SaharaReporters, New York
SaharaReporters has obtained an audio interview of a man, identified as Mujhahedeen Muhammad Marwana, who claims to be the second-in-command to Boko Haram leader Imam Abubakar Shekau, conducted in Hausa by phone in Bauchi State, by a foreign journalist.

In it, Marwana speaks authoritatively about meetings between members of his group and some top Northerners, including Governor Sule Lamido, former Minister of Defence Bello Halliru, and Sheik Dahiru Bauchi. The translation, into English, did not provide any context to those meetings.

According to the source which made the tape available, the interview was broadcast yesterday, January 28, but it is unclear when it was conducted and where it was broadcast. Translated into English, the interview shows Marwana dispelling any possible dialogue with the militants because the government has allegedly killed 47 Boko Haram emissaries in dialogue efforts that have never seen the light of day.

In the interview, Marwanna also explained Boko Haram’s predicament in Kano, stating that four principal members of their group are being “unjustly” held there and must first be released as a pre-condition for any future developments. He indicated that there are others also being held in Abuja, Maiduguri and other locations in the North.

He told his interviewer: “Many people have called us for dialogue many times but the government is fooling itself, thinking they are clever but [are] deceiving themselves. They are insisting they don’t know us, it is false, we have met their representatives many times but because of their evil plan they kept denying [us] because of their greed and wickedness.”

Marwana also reiterated that Boko Haram is following Allah’s instruction to serve him and that his group is not attacking anyone unjustly.
He asked: “Before they attack us, have you ever see us attacking them and their cronies from the beginning? Even pressmen we have no problem with them except where there were some plots,” he said.

Apparently on the subject of treachery on the part of the government, he recalled “the first meeting” following the execution of former Boko Haram leader Mohammed Yusuf in Maiduguri.

“We were six in Shehu’s Palace,” he recalled. “From there we were 40 that met in Damaturu and only three of us survived. We went to Kaduna and met in Arewa House; of 11 of us, 10 were killed by special squad of security agencies around Tafa on Abuja way, with all these, who is a cheat and want trouble? We sat with Governor Sule Lamido, former minister of defence, Bello Halliru and Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, this is what we want our Muslim Ummah to know.”

The Top 11 Most Inspiring Self-Sacrifices

Sacrificing your life for another’s is perhaps the most courageous thing you can do. Here are ten people who did just that, because sometimes you need to know people like that exist.
11
John Robert Fox
John Fox

Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and Prince look-a-like 1st Lieutenant John Robert Fox was directing artillery fire in the Italian town of Sommocolonia to stall a German advance. While Fox was directing fire, a large German force moved in on his position.
Realising that this force was a huge threat to his men, Fox called a final artillery strike—on himself.

When his men eventually retook the position, Fox’s body was found next to approximately 100 dead German troops and a medal was placed neatly on his chest.

10
Vincent Coleman
Halifax Explosion
The Halifax explosion was a deadly blast that occurred in Nova Scotia, Canada, when a ship laden with ammunition collided with another and the resulting fire grew out of control.

Vincent Coleman—a train operator— was at a nearby station who was in charge of traffic. When he was informed that French munitions ship the Mont–Blanc, was moments away from exploding, Coleman stayed behind to warn a nearby passenger train to stop.  Moments later he was killed by the resulting explosion.
9
Arland Williams
Rescue Chopper in Action
When Air Florida Flight 90 smashed into a frozen lake in the middle of a snowstorm, all but six passengers were killed. Some 20 minutes later, a helicopter arrived to rescue the survivors.
After getting one man to safety, the helicopter threw a life-ring to Arland Williams… who immediately gave it to the passenger next to him.
When the helicopter came back for a third time, he did the same thing again. And again. When the helicopter came back a final time, Arland was dead. He’d used his last ounce of strength to save a complete stranger.

8
Russian Scientists
Lengingrad Seed Bank

The siege of Leningrad saw millions starve to death. Of those millions, 12 literally surrounded by things they could eat. They were scientists at the Pavlovsk seed bank. Crippled with hunger, scientists and guards died at their posts.
Peanut specialist, Alexander Stchukin died at his work station, protecting tonnes of food that could easily have saved his and his fellow workers lives. They chose to starve, ensuring that future generations of Russians would be able to eat.

7
Richard Rescorla
9/11 Lights

Richard Rescorla was instrumental in the evacuation of thousands of people during the 9/11 attacks.
As the director of security at Morgan Stanley, Rescorla was a stickler for his building’s safety and held twice-yearly evacuation drills to get people out.
When the attacks happened and the tower next to Rescorla’s was hit, he put his plan into action and calmly instructed people to leave, right up until the moment he was killed. Rescorla’s actions were considered instrumental in the successful evacuation of over 2,500 people.

6
Captain Oates
A Painting of Oates' Sacrifice

Captains Oates’ actions are now considered to be the stuff of legend. During a disastrous mission to the South Pole, Oates sustained crippling injuries that were slowing the team’s progress. Oates pleaded to be left behind, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

This led to Oates’ legendary final words, “I am just going outside and may be some time,’ after which he left the relative safety of the tent and walked to his death. Sadly, Oates’ sacrifice was in vain as his men also succumbed to the weather just a few miles from their objective. Proof that when someone tells you to leave them behind, you should do it.

5
Ryan Arnold

The bond between siblings is strong and unless you have one, it’s hard to explain the intense urge you feel to protect your kin.
Ryan Arnold had that urge when his brother Chad desperately needed a liver transplant.

Without thinking, Ryan immediately checked that he was a compatible donor.  Discovering that he was, the transplant went ahead.
As with all surgeries, there was risk and Ryan lost his life during the procedure. He’d made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that his brother could live.

4
Takeshi Miura and Miki Endo
Japanese Tsunami

The 2011 Japanese tsunami saw tremendous destruction hit Japan.

Takeshi Miura and Miki Endo were two government risk management workers tasked with warning and directing the public to safety. When the ten metre wave hit, both Takeshi and Miki stuck to their posts and kept broadcasting, using their last words to direct townsfolk to safety.

3
The Four Chaplains
The Four Chaplains
Lieutenants George Fox, Alexander Goode, John Washington, and Clark Poling were chaplains of varying faiths stationed aboard troop transport ship The Dorchester.
When the ship was struck by a submarine’s torpedo, the chaplains quickly rallied together and began handing out life jackets, and directing people to safety.
When the life jackets ran out, they selflessly gave away their own. When the ship went down, the four men linked arms and began singing. It’s hard to say how many lives the men actually saved, suffice it to say it was enough to get into heaven and then some.

This Unnamed Dog
Dog on Tracks

Dogs are man’s best friend, a title they’ve damn well earned through years of kicking butt.
When a suicidal unnamed Kazakhstani man drunkenly fell asleep on a train track, his ever faithful pet dog knew exactly what needed to be done. The dog used all of its doggy powers—pushing, pulling, and nudging its drunken owner off the tracks to safety. Sadly, this put the dog in harm’s ways and it died instantly when it was struck by a train.

1 JESUS CHRIST

Do You Agree?? Tattoos And Plastic Surgery Are Not Sins - Chris Okotie

At a service held yesterday, Sunday January 13th at his church auditorium, Pastor Chris Okotie told his members (a few of them LIB readers :-)) that tattooing their body or even undergoing plastic surgery is not a sin before God.

He said a lot of people misinterpret a scripture in the bible which is supposedly against body art and enhancement. He said getting tattoos and plastic surgery is an individual decision and has nothing to do with God.

Guru Maharaj Ji’s Bombshell: Quote Me, Pastors Use Juju To Hold Their Members!

Are you saying that pastors use juju?

Guru Maharaj Ji’s Bombshell: Quote Me, Pastors Use Juju To Hold Their Members!
These are just extract copy of what Guru Maharaji says about all these miraculous pastor:

Yes. Quote me: all of them use juju. How can a pastor touch somebody and he falls down? That one is juju at work. Our people are very foolish and ignorant. How can you touch somebody and he falls down? There is something behind this.

Today, we are in a world of falsehood. And if you look at what is happening, you wouldn’t blame the pastors, you would blame our law, which is lax. I said this because if some of these pastors that have been duping people had been brought to book, there would have been sanity. These pastors that are pushing people down, and are saying they are healing them, they should tell us the source of their power. If, as a pastor, you receive your power from Ifa, Ogun or Orunmila, and you are giving credit to another person, this means that you are a saboteur. You are in actual fact a murderer because you are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Is it true, as some people have claimed, that some religious leaders often come to your headquarters here in Ibadan to consult you?

It is true. At times, they send their representatives. But I clearly remember that the General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, came to see me at our Lagos headquarters in Iju, Lagos, sometime in 1987. It is a public place, he was there, and people saw him. But he went back, never to come back to fulfill his promise to come for knowledge. And without knowledge, there is no way anybody can make it.

NOW, HE HAS SAID HIS OWN, CAN U TRUST HIM TOO

Patience Jonathan Hurriedly Flown To Germany

Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been flown out to Germany on another emergency.

This development comes less than 24 hours after SaharaReporters revealed that she was billed to depart for Spain to attend to her health.

Medical sources in Abuja said Mrs. Jonathan had to be flown out earlier than expected due to new health concerns that developed overnight. The urgent nature of her departure for Germany led to cancellation of her appearance at a presidential event scheduled for 6:00 PM where the president hosted foreign ambassadors to Nigeria.

There is no official word from the presidency regarding her trip. Her principal media aide Ayo Osinlu told SaharaReporters by phone that he couldn’t tell of her movements because he was not in Abuja at the moment.

In August 2012, Mrs. Jonathan was airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany, where she spent several weeks in a hospital for an undisclosed ailment.

The presidency did not confirm her condition or whereabouts throughout the period. She returned to Nigeria on October 14 and denied having been hospitalized in Germany or having any terminal condition.

“I don’t even know that hospital they are talking about,” she said. “I do not have any terminal illness or cosmetic surgery.”

It wasn’t that he had any perverse or deviant obsession – he’d been using the torch on his iPhone while assisting the cow during calving in the middle of a particularly dark and stormy night.
The phone later made a reappearance – but perhaps a little unsurprisingly, failed to work properly.
Result: The Insurance company paid out on the claim in full

Isabel Parker, the 72-year-old queen of the slip-and-fall scam, prostrated herself in department stores, supermarkets and liquor stores 49 times during her long career – a sad byproduct of her gambling addiction.
Prosecutors said that she treated insurance claims like her job – and she kept very busy. The woman filed a total of 49 bogus personal-injury claims in Philadelphia, Delaware County and New Jersey, and collected $500,115 between 1993 and 2000. She pleaded guilty to 29 counts of insurance fraud and theft in New Jersey alone.
Result: Four-year sentence under house arrest

Waiter, there’s a mouse in my soup!
A-Mouse-Found-In-A-Tin-Of-003
Carla Patterson tried to tap a Virginia Cracker Barrel restaurant for a $500,000 insurance settlement after ‘discovering’ a mouse in her vegetable soup on Mother’s Day.
But the national chain investigated further, and found that the mouse had no soup in its lungs – and therefore had not been cooked. The jury believed that the only way the mouse could have appeared in the soup is if she’d put it there.
Result: One-year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit extortion (but she still maintains her innocence).

Double Doofus
Nicholas-Di-Puma-Allegedly-Set-His-Home-And-Convertible-Ablaze-Then-Blamed-It-On-Bad-Cooking-Skills
A man from Delaware torched his own home and his own convertible to collect on his homeowners and auto insurance.
Nicholas Di Puma said it all started when pans on his wood stove ignited while he was cooking. Then buckets of coals caught on fire. After trying to extinguish the inferno, Di Puma said he threw the first bucket out the door, where it apparently landed in the backseat of his convertible.
While en route to tossing the second pan outside, he tripped and the second landed on his sofa. Unbelievable? That’s what local law enforcement thought, too. Di Puma pleaded guilty to second and third degree attempted insurance fraud.
Result: Five-years probation, no insurance benefits. Home and car completely destroyed.

Bride on Fire
Bride On Fire
Some wedding days just don’t turn out the way you expect. Everything seemed to be going well on the day for Paula Catelli from Rimini, Italy, until her beautiful, hand-made wedding dress came slightly too close to the barbecue.
The synthetic material went up in flames immediately, and within moments Catelli was what no girl on her wedding day ever wants to be – a bride on fire.
Her loving husband saved the day by picking her up and throwing her into the sea. Fortunately, both bride and groom were excellent swimmers.
Result: The insurance company paid out 50% compensation for the disaster – possibly out of sympathy.

Killed His Mom and Torched the House
Match-0009
High living had left Chicago grain futures executive Marc Thompson deeply in debt. In desperation, he torched his home for the $730,000 in insurance money.
To make it appear a suicide, he led his 90-year-old mother Carmen downstairs, doused the basement with accelerant, and tossed the match.
Carmen Thompson’s Aug. 11, 2002, death by carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation must have seemed the perfect alibi. But federal agents continued to investigate the fire, and the truth emerged.
What kind of skunk would do this?
Result: Most definitely no insurance payout. Thompson’s own future is secure – for 190 years in federal prison.

An unnamed (you’ll see why) woman in her late 20s from Bristol, UK, deserves particularly honorable mention in this list.

Cigared for life
Cigar 17Rb250-17Rb25C
A lawyer from North Carolina purchased a box of expensive cigars and insured them against flooding, storm damage and – of all things – fire.
Needless to say, his investment went up in smoke within a month – after which the lawyer filed a claim with his homeowners insurance company, stating that he was owed compensation because “the cigars were lost in a series of small fires”.
The insurer refused to pay, assuming (correctly) that the man had smoked the pack himself. A judge ruled, however, that since the insurer had never stated what was considered to be “unacceptable” fire, the company did, in fact, owe him $15,000 to replace his property.
Result: The insurance company paid the claim, but then had the lawyer arrested. He was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine for 24 counts of arson and insurance fraud.

Caution-Falling-Coconuts
People were falling off their chairs laughing when British travel agency Club Direct began issuing policies to cover injuries caused by falling coconuts.
Brent Escott, their managing director, cited statistics which show that 150 people – or ten times the number of victims from shark attacks – are killed every year by falling coconuts. There was some perception that perhaps Mr. Escott had been struck on the head.
That same year in Sri Lanka, a Club Direct customer was calmly sitting under a palm tree reading a book when a coconut fell on her head, knocking her out cold. She was duly hospitalized. Lucky.
Result: Insurance company paid out in full.

Mr. Fairclough was driving home from Christmas shopping, when he saw a car coming the other way with a Christmas tree badly tied to its roof.
This must have been a split second observation: no sooner had he seen it than the tree launched itself straight at him.
“He was driving too fast around a sharp bend and I saw the tree lift off and it flew straight at me. The trunk made a great dent in my bonnet and caused me to swerve off the road into a hedge.”
Mr Fairclough added: “The chap didn’t stop and he never came back for his tree, so the Police said we might as well have it. It wasn’t funny at the time, but looking back it was like a comedy sketch!” Nice.
Result: Insurance company paid out all damages.

Same Sex Marriage's Now Criminal Offence Punishable By 14Yrs Imprisonment - Mark

President of Nigerian Senate, David Mark, has insisted that the Bill prohibiting same sex marriage is irrevocable.

Speaking at the civic reception in honour of the Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan in Abuja at the weekend, Mark said the Bill would be passed into law irrespective of pressures from some sections of the international community and human rights activists demanding the legalization of same sex marriage in the country.

Besides banning the same sex marriage, Mark said it is now a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment of not less than 14 years.

In his words: “We will not compromise on this. I want to invite you all to join the crusade of decency in our society.

“There are many good values we can copy from other societies but certainly not this one (same sex marriage).

“We have to prove to the rest of the world, who are advocates of this unnatural way that we Nigerians promote and respect sanity, morality and humanity.

“Every individual is a product of the union of a man and woman.”

He acknowledged the cordial relationship between the Nigerian State and the Church and pledged that the National Assembly would continue to do all within the law to ensure religious freedom and peaceful co-existence in the country.

How To Burn Fat Using Foods

Metabolism is your body’s process of turning food, measured in calories, into energy. When your body is in caloric balance, you are consuming as many calories as your body is using. When in caloric deficit, your body is using more calories than you are taking in; when this occurs your body converts stored fat cells into energy, thus burning fat.

Step 1
Determine your body’s caloric needs. According to Medline Plus, if your activity level is low to moderate, you must consume 13 to 15 calories per pound to maintain your weight. One pound of fat contains approximately 3,500 calories, so to lose 1 lb. of fat per week, you should consume approximately 500 fewer calories per day than you need to maintain your weight. Using the above values, calculate the number of calories you must consume to achieve your fat-loss goals.

Step 2
Track your calorie consumption. Using a food diary, keep track of the foods you eat over the course of the day and the number of calories they contain. Aim to consume the number of calories you calculated in Step 1. Menu planning can also play a significant role in using foods to burn fat. Plan your meals in advance in order to distribute your caloric intake evenly over the course of the day.

Step 3
Understand metabolism. If you prefer to not count calories for convenience, certain foods may help burn more fat than others. According to MayoClinic.com, of the energy your body needs to function, a majority is used to keep your body operating normally — fueling organs, for example. A smaller portion is used to perform physical activities like walking, running and exercising, and about 10 percent of the energy your body consumes in a day is used to digest food. According to some studies, some foods actually require more energy to be metabolized than they provide, therefore burning calories and fat.

Step 4
Exchange some of your diet staples for “fat-burning foods” to ensure a lower overall caloric intake without counting calories. Some of these foods include celery, oranges, apples, gmolestfruit, strawberries, pineapple, zucchini and carrots. However, anything used to top these foods or cook them can counteract their fat-burning potential.

Tips and Warnings

The idea of “negative-calorie” foods is still in question. While many doctors agree that digesting certain foods will burn more calories than the foods provide, there isn’t conclusive evidence as to exactly how many negative calories each of these foods contains and whether this is an effective means of burning fat.
Discuss any changes to your diet and exercise habits with your physician. Consuming significantly fewer calories than your body needs to function can trigger your metabolism to slow down; your body will feel as though it’s starving, and slowing metabolism conserves energy. A combination of calorie-burning exercise and lower caloric intake is more effective than diet alone.

Foods That Burn Fat Easily

More people are overweight or obese than ever before, and simple dietary changes can be the solution to a growing problem. No matter your current weight, there are foods that can help amp up your body’s metabolism, causing you to burn more fat and shed some excess pounds. Of course, if you are seeking to make major changes to your body, dietary changes alone will not suffice–you will also need to start and stick with a regular exercise regimen. But if you are looking for a good place to start, your food is a great beginning.

Fish
Fish is a prime source of omega-3 fatty acids and decreases the amount of leptin in your body. Leptin, according to Men’s Health, plays a key role in your metabolism, determining whether your body burns calories or stores them as fat. More leptin in your body makes you more likely to store fat, while lower leptin levels makes you more likely to burn fat.

Lean Meats
Lean beef, turkey, chicken and pork can play a large part in helping you shed fat. The protein within these lean meats requires more energy to digest. So if you are eating more protein, your body will work harder to digest it, burning more calories and fat. The key, though, is that the meat you eat is lean and relatively void of additives. Cut away any fat or skin that may be on the meat, and minimize–or completely avoid–any marinades or sauces that will pack extra calories into your dish.

Hot Peppers
Hot peppers, particularly jalapenos, habaneras and cayennes, help you burn fat by boosting your heart rate. Hot peppers contain a chemical called capsaicin; capsaicin gives peppers their spicy taste and helps boost your metabolism as your body works to cool itself down. Spicy meals, according to Men’s Health, can boost your metabolism by nearly 25 percent, and the boost can last as long as three hours.

Milk, Whole Grain and Oats
Milk, whole grains and oats can help burn fat by providing your body with complex carbohydrates and calcium. Complex carbohydrates and calcium help keep your metabolism going by keeping your insulin levels low after you eat. High insulin production, according to Men’s Health, triggers your body to start storing fat; fat is stored when your metabolism slows. But if your metabolism keeps moving and the insulin stays low, your body will burn fat more easily. Low-fat yogurt is another great source of calcium and produces the same effect on your insulin levels.

Berries and Other Fruits
Berries and other fruits provide your body with healthy doses of fiber, which works two-fold in helping you burn fat. First, fiber helps you feel full for a longer period of time, causing you to eat less in the long run. Second, like calcium and complex carbohydrates, fiber does not greatly boost your body’s insulin production, helping your metabolism burn more fat.

Greens
Vegetables are great foods that help you burn fat easily. Particularly good are asparagus, lettuce and celery. Asparagus helps flush fluids out of your body and contains only 26 calories per cup. Lettuce also minimizes your caloric intake; iceberg lettuce provides only 6 calories per cup. Celery gives only 14 calories per cup. Simply digesting these foods burns more calories than the foods contain, making them very effective fat-burning foods.

Ke$ha Claims She Was Forced to Sing “Die Young” followed by a demonic video

In the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, radio stations across the country are dropping Ke$ha’s single Die Young from their playlist. The song’s constant repetition of the words “we’re gonna die young” is now apparently deemed inappropriate for airplay. As I’ve stated in The demonic Symbolism of Ke$ha’s “Die Young” and How it Ridicules the Indoctrinated Masses, the entire imagery of the video and of the live performances that accompanied the song were about glorifying death and ritual sacrifices. All of this was interlaced with Illuminati symbolism, hinting that the whole thing was yet another way of the elite to push a culture of death on the masses.
In reaction to this backlash, Ke$ha took to Twitter and posted an unexpected comment: “I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.”
tweet
Ke$ha’s tweet as captured by MTV.com
This tweet was later deleted because it probably pissed off her bosses.
But who exactly forced her to sing those lyrics? Why was she credited as a writer of the song? As I stated in the Die Young article:
“In reality, Ke$ha didn’t do anything for any LOLs. She did not direct the video. She is just performing what she is told to perform, like most pop stars. The fact of the matter is: Illuminati symbols are becoming more prevalent because that was the plan all along – to gradually make them part of popular culture. The occult elite is revealing itself and the masses are dancing to their tunes.”
i will rate the video as the most demonic i ever saw.
as you watch pay attention to the obvious demonic symbolism
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOubzHCUt48
Pop stars have no control over their careers, they are puppets used to push Agendas. Die Young was all about celebrating the sick culture of death that is prevalent in mass media today. Ke$ha’s temporary tweet gave us a small glimpse of the coercive and forceful nature of the music industry and how it imposes content on stars.
It apparently took a mass shooting to make some people realize that there is something sick and unhealthy in popular culture. I am not for censorship of any kind, but for people to wake up and reject the crap that is pushed on them. Let’s hope other tragedies won’t be needed to make more people see the obvious.

Osun Students To Study Ifa – Aregbesola

The Osun State Government has announced a comprehensive plan for the state’s secondary school students to study Ifa as one of their subjects.

The state Governor, Ogbeni Raufu Aregbesola, said the schools’ computer tablet had application for Ifa studies.

Aregbesola made the relevation yesterday during the special prayers session to usher in the New Year, organized with clerics from all religions praying for the peace and growth of the state.

Clerics who offered special prayers for the state included the President General, League of Imams and Alfas in the South-West, Alhaji Mustapha Ajisafe; the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Evangelist Abraham Aladeseye; and frontline Ifa priest, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, among others.

The special prayer affected official functions in the state secretariat and other government offices, as top civil servants across all parastatal agencies graced the occasion held in the premises of the Bola Ige House, state secretariat, Abere, Osogbo.

Bishop of Osogbo Diocese of the Methodist Church, Bishop John Bamigboye, advised the government to compensate those whose property were demolished as a result of the ongoing road dualization in the state.

Bamigboye enjoined the government to return Christian and Islamic Religious Studies to all primary and secondary schools in the state.

Governor Aregbesola, in his remarks at the ceremony, declared that 2013 would be a year of total freedom for the state, stressing that the year would be for the people of the state a year of total turn-around and liberty.

According to the governor, the government’s major desire for the state in 2013 is to ensure the fulfillment of the desires of the state’s founding fathers, stressing: “Osun State will be freed in 2013 from hunger, mystery, poverty and under-development.”

He said his government has paid over N600 million as compensation to owners of demolished structures, even as he assured that those who were yet to receive their compensation would get theirs soon.

Aregbesola also disclosed that his government had returned religious studies to all public primary and secondary schools in the state, adding that the free computer tablet tagged ‘opon Imon’, which the government would present to secondary school students had an application for Ifa studies.

He also prayed for peace and development of the state in 2013 and urged all the people to support his government and the country with prayers, saying: “Nigeria needs prayers for an end to come to the security problem confronting the northern part of the country.”

Aregbesola added that his desire for the year was to make the state the envy of other states in the country, saying he had come to the state to do the works of God.

Jonathan’s 2015 Campaign Posters Flood Abuja

Jonathan’s 2015 campaign posters flood Abuja
on JANUARY 2, 2013 · in NEWS
12:40 am

By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North

ABUJA—Giant campaign posters, announcing President Goodluck Jonathan’s readiness to contest the 2015 presidential election, greeted Nigerians in Abuja, the nation’s capital, as they woke up to savour the dawn of the New Year.

The all-glossy posters, which were strategically posted in the high brow areas of the Federal Capital Territory, did not however indicate the source or the sponsor of the advertisement.

The launch of the campaign materials contradicts the President’s claim that he has not yet decided on the 2015 poll but concentrating effort on transforming Nigeria in line with his manifesto to give the people a ‘fresh air’.

It was not clear why the sponsors of the message decided to put it out on the first day of the new year but a source familiar with the message pointed out that it was to send a strong message to the opposition that Jonathan was serious about contesting in 2015 and to test the reactions of the Nigerians.
The campaign posters have been spread across the major areas of ECOWAS, Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat in Wuse 5, and the Central Business District, where major government offices are situated.

One of the posters, which had President Goodluck Jonathan’s portrait read, 2015: No vacancy in Aso Rock. Let’s do more. One good term deserves another. Support Dr. Goodluck Azikiwe Jonathan for 2015 Presidency.

Presidency disowns posters

When contacted the Political Adviser to the President, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak disowned the posters saying that they did not emanate from the presidency and that “the president has not authorised anybody to print any campaign poster for him as regards 2015 elections”.

He declared that the president has been “pre-occupied with working to fix Nigeria and did not want to be distracted by undue politicking about 2015”.

The presidential aide further said that the pasting of the posters could be the work of mischief makers who want to deceive Nigerians.

However, in an exclusive interview with Vanguard last month, Okupe had said that when the time was ripe his boss would respond to the issue of 2015, insisting that Mr. President was preoccupied with fixing Nigeria’s problems at the moment.

Okupe pointed out that it was wrong for some Nigerians to try to distract the President from fulfilling his electioneering promises to the nation by bringing up the issue of 2015 presidency.

The aide, however, said the wonderful performance of Jonathan at the end of the tenure would make most Nigerians to compel him to run in 2015.

“Nigerians ‘ll want him to run”

Okupe had said: “I am very certain in my mind that Nigerians are going to applaud him and even if he does not want to run for election, Nigerians are going to force him to run again because of the level of performance.

“Only God and the people of Nigeria will decide what will happen in 2015. But I think what is uppermost in the President’s mind is to solve the basic needs of Nigerians by improving power, infrastructure, roads and check insecurity in the land.

“When he achieves all these, Nigerians will decide what to do with him. In fact, when we get to the bridge we will learn how to cross it. That is what I can say about 2015 for now.”

The poster, it was gathered, was printed by political hawks close to the Presidency in light of recent claims by the opposition to forge an alliance to chase out Jonathan in 2015, coupled with the warning by the Niger Delta former militant leader, Asari Dokubo, to Jonathan not to run in the next election because of poor outing so far.
